Becom vs Habitica

Habitica turns your habits into a role-playing game: you have an avatar, you earn gold and equipment for keeping streaks, you lose health when you slip, and you can fight monsters with friends. For a lot of people that is exactly the push they needed, and it is free.

Becom takes the opposite view of motivation — that a habit holds when you can see what it is for, which means the goal it serves and the money behind it sitting on the same screen.

Questions people ask

Is Habitica free?

Yes, Habitica is free to use, with optional paid extras and group plans. Becom is a paid app with a 30-day trial and no card taken up front — so if cost is the deciding factor, Habitica wins that line outright.

Does Becom have any gamification?

Streaks and completion rates, and that is deliberately all. No points, no avatar, no health bar — and no penalty for missing a day, because a week off should not cost you anything you have to earn back.

Which is better for building a habit that lasts?

Neither, by itself. Game rewards work well until they stop feeling novel; context works better once a habit is attached to something you actually want. If you have already tried the gamified route and drifted away, that is a signal worth taking seriously.

Can I move my habits across?

There is no import, but habits are short to re-enter — usually five minutes for a list that took months to settle on.
